Manhole Inspection & Rehabilitation
VIDEO INDUSTRIAL SERVICES EMPLOYS SEVERAL METHODS OF PHYSICAL INSPECTION, REPAIR AND REHABILITATION OF MANHOLES.
Sanitary Sewer Manholes are a significant source of Inflow & Infiltration (I&I). Studies have shown that up to 50% of a sewer systems total I&I can be attributed to defective and leaking manholes. Manhole defects, such as defective brickwork, pipe seals, joints, and covers can be significant sources of I&I, as well as areas of potential structural failure.
Our technicians collect data on various manhole characteristics, such as location, evidence of I&I, corrosion, and structural condition. Internal physical condition is documented by digital photo or video. Inspection data can be supplied in various database formats, such as Microsoft Excel or Access. Our technicians can also integrate GPS locations for a highly accurate manhole inventory.
Digital 3D Manhole Scanning
Using the latest in digital 3D manhole scanning technology, VIS technicians can perform highly accurate, detailed three dimensional scanning of sewer manholes and other structures to provide a 360 degree interior view.
Our process uses two high resolution digital cameras to scan the entire interior of the manhole in a few seconds in one single vertical run, providing an all-around inspection of the manhole. The viewer can stop at any position in the manhole, do a 360o pan, zoom and take snapshots. Simultaneously, an unfolded view of the manhole can be generated. This gives a rapid overview of the condition of the structure and enables the user to measure objects on the manhole walls.
The 3D point cloud allows users to measure nearly any feature in a manhole or shaft. The point cloud can be exported in DXF format for processing further in any CAD program.
Our manhole rehabilitation specialists can solve your manhole infiltration/inflow problems; restoring your structures to "better than new" condition in less time than it would take to replace them — and for a fraction of the cost. Structural rehabilitation & protective coatings provide a cost effective, permanent seal against corrosion, infiltration and exfiltration.
Epoxy: Our technicians use a wide range of 100% solids, zero-VOC epoxies to meet your exact requirements. These ultra high-build products can be sprayed or troweled-on to achieve a 1/4 inch (250 mil) wet-film thickness-on vertical or overhang surfaces without sagging. They are modifiable to meet specific flexural modulus and strength, cure fast even under water, and provide premium corrosion resistance where high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, hydrocarbons and an array of other chemicals are present.
Cementitious: We also perform cementitious manhole rehabilitation using products that are blended specifically for the job at hand. These unique, high-strength formulations allow a monolithic 1/2 inch to 3 inch one pass spray application that helps restore structural integrity to deteriorating manholes and provide a permanent seal against corrosion, infiltration and exfiltration.
Manhole Chimney Sealing: A major source of infiltration/inflow in manholes is the connection between the frame and the chimney. Freeze/thaw cycles and heavy traffic constantly stresses the connection, eventually creating an opening where surface water readily enters the manhole.
Our technicians use a spray-applied monolithic , fast cure coating with elongations of 500% plus. The coating forms a tight 125 mil barrier that connects the frame to the rest of the manhole. The corrosion resistance of the coating is ideal for protecting open storm inlets from winter salts that quickly deteriorate their concrete rings.

Industry Leading Innovations
From the beginning, Carylon companies have thrived on the notion of innovation. They invented the first continuous rod, truck-mounted power rodder for cleaning sewers, developed the use of closed-circuit television for sewer line inspections, and pioneered the internal sealing of leaking sewers using pressure chemical grouting.
24/7/365 Response When Needed
Carylon companies were among the first to provide privatized disaster response; giving top priority to requests for assistance following any natural or man-made disaster. Our vast resource of men, equipment and experience have helped many disaster-stricken communities restore normalcy to the lives of their residents in the shortest time possible.
Our Unmatched Guarantee
Whether your project calls for the use of one man and one piece of equipment, or multi-disciplinary crews and a fleet of specialized equipment, we can do the job, and do it right. And, we don't just say we can - we guarantee it. All work is backed by a guarantee that is unmatched in the industry.
